BCG partners with revived Comedy Poster Awards
- The Comedy Poster Awards are returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year
- Founder Gina Lyons says: "I'm excited to recognise and promote the hard work put in by comedians, photographers and designers"
- The CPAs will be sponsored by Beer52 and British Comedy Guide
British Comedy Guide is proud to announce it has partnered with Comedy Poster Awards to revive the competition for 2018.
Established in 2014, the awards seek to recognise the best artwork on display at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.
British Comedy Guide has now signed with awards founder Gina Lyons to become the official media sponsor for the contest, and will host the awards' official website and public voting portal.
Having not taken place in 2017 this year will mark the fourth awards, with two best-poster prizes awarded: one from the results of an online public vote, and one decided upon by a panel of industry judges.
The awards have this year also partnered with local Edinburgh company, "craft beer discovery club" Beer52 to sponsor the public prize, which will now be known as the Beer52 Audience Award.
Beer52 founder James Brown says: "We are very excited to support the Comedy Poster Awards this year. Being based in Edinburgh, the Fringe is one of the highlights of our year. We hope that by giving away a free case of beer to everyone who votes in the competition, we'll be able to raise the profile of some of the fantastic new talent that is performing this year."
Voters and entrants are invited to sign up to receive a case of 8 craft beers, hand-picked by Beer52, and pay a mere £2.95 for postage and packing, with no obligations to further purchase. Details
Awards producer/founder Gina Lyons is still searching for potential further partners to back the awards. Winners will be announced at a ceremony towards the end of August in one of the city's top venues, with free drinks provided by Beer52. Previous ceremony hosts include Andrew Maxwell and Sam Simmons.
Lyons says: "I have a weird love for posters and the colour of Edinburgh during August because of them. Each year, the work gets better and better. I'm excited to bring the awards back; recognise and promote the hard work put in by comedians, photographers and designers; and give people another hangover."
The 2018 competition will open for entry submissions on Sunday 1st July, with voting commencing at comedyposterawards.co.uk shortly thereafter.
Previous winners include Ellie Taylor, Desiree Burch, Tom Parry and Holly Walsh.
