Micky Flanagan has announced a major new stand-up tour for 2017, with tickets now on sale.
Titled An' Another Fing, the show will see the comedian present brand new material at venues around the UK and Ireland in May, September and October 2017. So far he has announced 27 dates, with more expected to be revealed later if sales are strong.
The tour is set to visit arenas venues in Belfast, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Brighton, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield.
The full list of dates can be found at the bottom of this page, with tickets now available from Ticketmaster
Now one of Britain's biggest stand-up stars, this will be Micky Flanagan's first stand-up tour in three years. In 2013, he performed Back In The Game to over 500,000 fans across 129 dates.
Speaking on last weekend's Jonathan Ross Show about why he took time off, Flanagan explained that, after "17 years on the road as a stand-up comic", he had made some money and so decided it was time to have a break.
Elaborating, he explained how the decision came about: "You sort of wake up in the morning and you think '9 o'clock... too early'. You go back to sleep for an hour, then wake up again and think 'what am I going to do with my life?', and then your brain goes 'have a year off!', and you go 'good idea brain!'."
He then joked: "I thought 'right, I've reached the top. I'm probably the best comic in the world, so give the others a chance Mick'... because I'm a giver."
Flanagan told Ross he had enjoyed his time off, including going down the pub to read the paper and have a burger and pint. He has also been spending his time looking after his 10 year-old son, playing with his new dog, and idly passing time "pottering around", such as watching the activity on building sites.
However, despite enjoying a break, he admitted he knew he would return to comedy. "I always knew I'd go back, because you do if it's in you. My wife says to me 'it's so much who you are - this person who has to be funny all the time - that, if you don't do it there [on stage], I'm going to have to deal with it a lot of the time."
The An' Another Fing news follows on from the announcement that Flanagan has filmed a new TV series called The Micky Flanagan Detours, which will air on Sky 1 early next year. The producers for the series, in which the comedian meets people from various walks of life, explain the format as follows: "Flanagan lets his mind wander through the past and present to explore the big themes in life. Is there really such a thing as a mid-life crisis? Why do we Brits like to think of ourselves as plucky underdogs? Can you offend a German, and does a leather waistcoat have any place in modern society?"
