The comedy group This Glorious Monster have been signed up by Hat Trick Productions.

The top production company - which has a slate of shows including Have I Got News For You, Outnumbered and Episodes - is now working to create a TV sketch show pilot featuring the group.

This Glorious Monster was formed 18 months ago by writers Martin Collins and Alex Finch, and features the performing talents of Martin Collins, Adam Loxley and Daniel Hoffman-Gill.

The group, with the help of director Stephen Pipe, have posted a number of highly-praised sketches on YouTube. It was these sketches, most of which feature dark undertones, which attracted Hat Trick.

This Glorious Monster describe their work as "subversive comedy celebrating the darker side of the human condition". The collective's videos have been described as offering up a comedy style which is 'like a mix of The League Of Gentlemen, The Mighty Boosh and Little Britain'.

The stars have also now been signed up by United Agents, a talent agency that represent the likes of Ricky Gervais and Rob Brydon.

Mark Talbot, the Hat Trick producer behind formats including the award-winning political prank show The Revolution Will Be Televised, has helped the group build a taster tape which has been submitted to broadcasters. He has previously described the group as "super funny, ridiculously daft, and a little bit wrong". The company hopes the taster tape will lead to a pilot or series being commissioned.

Speaking to BCG about performing comedy and their new deal, This Glorious Monster say: "We do this because we absolutely love doing it. But to get backed by the likes of Hat Trick is awesome. We are really chuffed to have found a good home for our Monster. We just hope he doesn't eat anyone's face off at the Christmas party."

Aside from their internet and TV projects, the group are also now performing live. They have started up their own club night called Something Monstrous. Running once a month at The Comedy Pub near Leicester Square in London, the next live show is on Tuesday 20th May. To find out more visit the troupe's Facebook page
