Chortle

The results of the 2014 Chortle Awards have been announced.

The awards, which focus on stand-up comedians, are now in their 14th year. The shortlists for each category are drawn up by a panel of judges with a public vote picking the winners. The website reports that over 9,000 fans of live comedy voted this year.

The results were announced at a ceremony held at the Ministry Of Sound venue in London, with Arthur Smith acting as host. Celebrities in attendance included reality TV star Joey Essex and 1980s entertainer Bobby Davro.

Notably Bridget Christie won two awards - one for Best Show, and the award focused on radio comedy. Meanwhile Richard Herring won the internet award for the fourth time in a row.
