The Glee opens its sixth comedy club in Leeds
The Glee has confirmed the opening of its sixth UK comedy venue in Leeds this spring.
The 400-seater premises on Albion Street becomes the city's only purpose-built comedy club, with gigs throughout the week.
A former Jongleurs, details of the venue's opening line-up will be announced soon, though Brennan Reece has already been booked to bring his tour show to the building in June.
The Glee Club opened its first venue in Birmingham in 1994 and also has outposts in Cardiff, Glasgow, Nottingham and Oxford, hosting music, cabaret and spoken word events as well as comedy.
Acts to have appeared on the chain's stages include Peter Kay, Michael McIntyre, Jo Brand, Romesh Ranganathan, Sarah Millican, Joe Lycett and Jack Whitehall.
"It's no secret that Yorkshire folk like a good laugh and Leeds is a city we've long been looking at as a location to further expand The Glee brand, so we are really excited to make this announcement" said The Glee founder Mark Tughan.
"We've got some incredible acts lined up and will also be providing a platform for local performers too with plenty of homegrown Yorkshire talent on the bill. Our fit out is progressing well and we can't wait to open the doors to the new venue and welcome customers to The Glee experience."
The Albion Street club will feature theatre-style seating and a pre-order service of bar food such as burgers, nachos and sourdough pizza.
