Eggbox screening night returns in October
Eggbox, the live comedy show format combining short film screenings and live script readings, is returning on 1st October, with a show at London's Pleasance theatre.
This new instalment, which is produced by Joz Norris and Miranda Holms ("comedy's sexiest and most humble power couple" - as noted in the press release), follows on from the sell-out launch at King's Place last December.
The organisers explain: "The world of scripted comedy filmmaking is bursting with just as much talent and innovation as the live scene, but it has far fewer opportunities for writers, directors and performers to share their work in front of a live audience and reap the benefits that come with showcasing work communally. Eggbox exists to showcase both ends of the filmmaking process, from readings of work-in-progress scripts that will enable writers to hear which bits are working best, to screenings of completed films that showcase some of the best work to come out of the filmmaking scene over the last year."
The 1st October show will feature Norris and Holms will be premiering their latest short film, Make Your Life Good Again, which is directed by Holms and stars Christian Brighty, Sooz Kempner and Norris.
There will also be exclusive screenings and premieres of shorts from Sam Pilbeam and The Lovely Boys (starring Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer Joe Kent-Walters); Sam O'Leary and Tom Lawrinson; Christina Riggs and Kyle Shephard (starring Arabella Weir); and Aruhan Galieva, Jac Clinch and Benjamin Adnams.
There will also be screenings of shorts by Luke McQueen; Ada Player & Bron Waugh; Alison Thea-Skot and Kat Bond; Jazz Emu and Alex Goddard.
The live script readings will be written by Norris, Holms and former BBC Studios Staff Writer Cody Dahler, and read by a cast including special guests Katie Norris, Sunil Patel and Laurie Luxe.
