Women In Comedy Festival to launch awards
The Woman In Comedy Festival, which will return to Manchester in October with nearly 80 shows, has announced it is launching a new set of awards.
The festival, which is now in its 13th year, will run from 3rd to 13th October 2024.
The new awards - titled Best Show and Best New Act - will be sponsored by Jason Manford and his Manford's Comedy Clubs.
Festival director Jessica Toomey notes: "We are delighted to be able to finally announce these awards, ones that will recognise and reward the great talent the festival showcases. Yet again we're bringing another fantastic programme of shows across many fantastic venues in Manchester city centre and continue to champion and support women in comedy."
The festival's programme will feature acts including Nina Gilligan, Laura Lexx, Rachel Fairburn, Ola Labib and Hayley Ellis, plus compilation shows, including an all-female edition of the Beat the Frog World Series competition.
