Big Funny Fest launches 'dad joke' competition
Richmond's Big Funny Fest has launched a competition to find the top 'dad jokes'.
The organisers explain: "The inaugural Big Funny Fest takes place on Father's Day Weekend, the 15 & 16 June, and what better way to celebrate the big day then with some cheesy, groan-inducing Dad jokes."
The festival's sponsors, the independent brewery Shepherd Neame, is offering a brewery tour, lunch and a supply of goodies for two, plus festival weekend tickets, to the winner of the competition.
Jokes submitted on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram by Saturday 1st June using the hashtag #bffdadjoke will be looked over by 'top dad comedians' Mark Dolan and Hal Cruttenden, who will then pick the winner.
Mark Dolan says: "As a father to two boys, I'm honoured to be one of the judges of the Dad Joke competition at Big Funny Fest. I'll be donning my corduroy trousers for the role and my pipe and slippers are at the ready. Oh God, is that a dad joke?"
Big Funny Fest will be located in the historic Old Deer Park in Richmond Upon Thames. The line-up across the weekend includes Jayde Adams, Jason Byrne, Lloyd Griffith, Adam Hess, Russell Hicks, Rhys James, Thanyia Moore, Luisa Omielan, Phil Wang, Tom Ward, Mark Watson, Stephen Bailey, Desiree Burch, Hal Cruttenden, Gary Delaney, Mark Dolan, Angelos Epithemiou, Darren Harriott, Olga Koch, Nish Kumar, Andrew Maxwell, Glenn Moore and Lou Sanders.
