Mr Khan interview
You may have seen in BBC One's Citizen Khan, but now he's off on a live tour. BCG chats to community leader Mr Khan...
Hello Mr Khan. How are you today?
Asalaam Alaikum. I'm very good thank you. I put the news on and Muslims were mentioned 15 times. Amazing! ... Once in a good way!
Before we get started, can we just clear something up... we're not sure what your first name is. How shall we address you?
Are you from immigration? Too many questions. It's Mr. Khan. But you can call me 'Sir'.
Fair enough. We understand you're putting on some live shows. What are they going to involve sir?
Me talking to community, as community leader. Hopefully the tour will involve me making lots of money so I can buy a conservatory.
Tickets have sold well, so you've put on more dates. What does your wife think about you being out the house for longer now?
Well. She's very happy. Although I'll be switching off the heating. We'll see...
Which venues are you looking forward to visiting the most?
Bradford will feel like home, I'm sure. Lots of Pakistanis and the regular whiff off horse poo coming from over the fields.
London will be very nice. I'm hoping The Queen will come - it's about time she supported us fellow immigrants.
It's not often we get the chance to talk to an important pillar of the community, so whilst we've got you, could we ask what your opinion is on Britain leaving Europe. Are you for or against 'Brexit'?
Well, put it this way: I'm a fully paid member of UKIP. Which stands for U Know I'm Pakistani! But, like many people, it's a tricky one this. I'm not happy about all these people coming over here taking our jobs. Jobs meant for us Pakistanis!
After these shows, what's next for you? Your family will be being followed by cameras again for your BBC show?
You don't get it, do you? Muslim in Britain = followed by cameras. This is it. I bloody love it!
Final question... we notice the Cricket Twenty20 competition has just been on. Did you follow it?
Pakistan are out, so what do I bloody care? I knew we would be out before the semi-finals because the captain called me up the day before to tell me!
Ok, got to go. I can hear Mrs Khan fiddling with the thermostat!
The 'Citizen Khan: They All Know Me!' UK tour starts on the 25th April in Bradford before touring the UK until 7th May. For tickets and more information visit: www.citizenkhan.co.uk
