Costa Coffee launches stand-up challenge
In celebration of the launch of Costa Light, a lighter tasting coffee, Costa is calling on up-and-coming comedians to encourage us all to see the lighter side of life with the Costa Light Comedy Challenge.
Budding stand-up comics are invited to submit a one-minute film of their act to Costa's website, which will then be voted on by members of the public. The closing date for entries is October 24th 2011.
The top ten acts in each UK region go head-to-head in live regional finals which will be compered and judged by Paul Tonkinson (pictured).
The ten funniest acts around the UK will then compete at London's Comedy Store in the final at the end of November, to win the chance to kickstart their career with a ten minute slot on a Friday night at The Comedy Store in both London and Manchester.
If you're not interested in Costa Coffee, there's lots of things you could do at home instead. Watch TV, read a book, or even do some online gambling. It's not related to the drink, but there's a bingo gaming site with a similar name out there. If you look around online you can find a costa bingo sign up code. This is a site where you can play the gambling game online, from the comfort of your home. It offers a first deposit bonus of 200%, up to £200. As the Bingo Promo Code site explains, the other huge benefit to playing at Costa Bingo is the fact that you get a robust second and third deposit bonus in addition to your welcome bonus. There's regular prizes up for grabs too.
To summarise, there are three stages of the competition:
1. Comedians upload a section of their stand-up routine to the dedicated microsite for public voting.
2. The top ten entries in five regions get invited to a Costa Light 'Laugh Off' at designated Costa Light Comedy Challenge evenings across Britain. Each event will be compered by comedian Paul Tonkinson.
3. Two regional winners from each area attend the final event in front of an invited audience at The Comedy Store in London. The event will be judged by Paul Tonkinson, and a representative from both The Comedy Store and Costa Coffee.
