Claudia O'Doherty interview
Claudia O'Dohery is bringing her show Pioneer to the Soho Theatre for 12 shows. We sent her a couple of questions by email to find out more...
Hi Claudia. How are you right now? Happy?
Very happy! I'm on holiday. I saw a pig yesterday.
Following your run in Edinburgh, you're now bringing your show, Pioneer, to the Soho Theatre. What can people expect?
Holograms, and laughs if you find me funny.
There's some confusion over whether the electronics manufacturers Pioneer have actually sponsored you. Can you enlighten us?
It would spoil the show if I told you. So no, sorry.
The show has big production values but presumably if there's a power cut or a technical breakdown you're in a bit of trouble?
I guess. I hadn't thought about that. Thanks for stressing me out.
Oops, sorry! The deluded wannabe actress we see on stage is obviously a fictional version of yourself... but has anyone come away from the show thinking that really is you?
Not to my knowledge, but some people are idiots, so probably.
One thing to clarify. On Twitter you state you live in 'The angel realm', but are we right in thinking you're actually a London resident now?
It's true, I live here right now. I've been here for just over a year. It's a better place for doing comedy and I love bleak places.
Are you going to do another live show in 2014? It might be hard to top the scale of Pioneer?
I've had no thoughts for next year yet. If I do another solo show, I imagine rather than attempting to top the scale of Pioneer I'd just try to do something quite different.
What about any TV or online video plans? We loved your Comedy Blaps episodes!
Thanks so much. There are a few possibilities, but nothing definite.
Claudia O'Doherty: Pioneer is at the Soho Theatre from 23rd September to the 5th October (except 29th). Tickets
Below is the first episode of Claudia's Comedy Blaps series we mentioned above...
