ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards returns with Jones Bootmaker sponsor
The ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards will return to the Edinburgh Fringe for a second year, and have today announced new sponsor Jones Bootmaker.
The Jones Bootmaker ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards will award three prizes of £5,000 each for Best Show, Best Newcomer and Panel Prize.
A panel of 30 volunteers will see around 700 eligible shows this year. A long-list of nominees will be published on 15th August with a short-list revealed on the 20th. Winners will be announced during a ceremony in The Counting House's Ballroom late on the 23rd. Showcases will be held in the same room Thursday - Sunday each week at 11:30pm.
Line-ups comprising of last year's long-listed comics include Phil Ellis, Huge Davies, Alexandra Haddow, Sid Singh, Eric Rushton, Seymour Mace, Fiona Ridgewell, Aaron Simmonds, Kelly McCaughan, Milo Edwards, John Tothill, Mark Nelson, Cheekykita, Gareth Mutch and JoJo Sutherland, plus host Nathan Cassidy.
The awards were created by multi-award winning stand-up Cassidy (pictured, right), who is the only comedian to have performed live at the Fringe for the last 15 years, as he was the only live performer at the otherwise aborted 2020 Fringe. They are run by Cassidy and awards producer Sarah Bowles (pictured, left).
Dave Abbott, Head of Brand at Jones Bootmaker says: "We're delighted to be stepping in as the sponsor of this year's ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards. It's a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the hard-working performers who make the Edinburgh Fringe one of the best festivals in the world. They perform great stand-up, we design great shoes, it's a perfect fit!"
