Winners of the Amused Moose Comedy Awards 2023 announced
Seven shows have been nominated for the Edinburgh Fringe-based Amused Moose Comedy Awards 2023. They are:
Philipp Kostelecky: Daddy's Home
The long-running awards focus on "discovering brilliant though unknown comedy performers resident in UK/ROI, who do not yet have comedy agents and whose shows have not won any major comedy awards nor performed at comedy's 'stepping stone' Soho Theatre."
Video entries were submitted by the performers in July and early August, then the best entries were seen in-person at the festival by a panel of judges comprising of critics, promoters and producers, to determine the shortlist.
The organisers explain: "Not only will the three winners among the nominees be presented with an Amused Moose trophy this week, but Amused Moose Comedy is hopeful that the tradition continues of some of the nominated shows being invited to perform at Soho Theatre in the autumn".
Aside from the seven nominated shows, the following were also "commended":
Adele Cliff Can Break Your Arm
Alexander Bennett: I Can't Stand The Man, Myself
Amy Webber: No Previous Experience
Dan Jones: This Seems Ambitious
David McIver: Small Boy Trapped in a Wellness Retreat
Eleanor Conway: Talk Dirty To Me
Lara A King - Midlife at the Oasis
Richard Stott: Dear Lord... What A Sad Little Life
