NextUp returns with even bigger Biggest Award trophy
NextUp's Biggest Award In Comedy returns to the Edinburgh Fringe this year, the streaming platform has announced.
In its third year, the award presents a giant, trophy-shaped inflatable prize to its winner, which now measures 2 metres and 2 centimetres tall.
Alongside the necessary air pump and carry case, the winner will receive £500 in cash and be given the option to have their show filmed for NextUp's service.
First won in 2022 by Jordan Gray, las year's victor Lindsey Santoro says: "It's an absolute thrill and joy to have won this award. What's not a thrill is the giant bloody trophy, which is so big my mother had to crawl inside it to deflate it and we lost her for 2 months. One of her slippers is still in it. Good luck everyone! Smash its tits off! Bye bye love you."
Daniel Berg, co-founder of NextUp, adds: "This biggest award in comedy is back and more inconveniently large than ever - a full 1cm increase from 2023. The Edinburgh Fringe is a gruelling time for performers so it's a real honour to increase one lucky comedian's luggage size for their journey home."
Voting is now open to NextUp subscribers at nextupcomedy.com/biggestaward. The winner will be announced on Saturday 24th August.
