2022 Edinburgh Fringe
Pulp
Pulp is a hilarious and provoking piece exploring themes of uncertainty, failure and spontaneity. It studies the presence of AI within performance. As the show unfolds, an algorithm gives instructions to the actors. The piece explores how the act of translation from artificial intelligence to human intelligence opens up space for new meaning and a reconfiguration of language and its use. Moreover, Pulp is a study on how restrictions can produce spontaneity and original solutions to impossible performative tasks. Finally, the piece explores notions of chance and coincidence, producing meaning despite an apparent lack of intentionality.
