Jordan Gray chats about music, superpowers and fighting a wolf

Jordan Gray

Jordan Gray has been in the music business for 10 years, appeared on The Voice and is now hailed as the UK's hottest transgender comedian, counting Boy George and Simon Pegg among her huge fanbase.

Is It A Bird? is Jordan's brand new raucous comedy show tackling everything from babies to boobies and from bigots to Batman. This is a silly, witty, sexy hilarious show which no doubt will resonate with members of the LGBTQIA+ community and beyond. We spoke to the powerhouse herself about her love of superheroes, original music and what it means to be brave.

Which superhero would make the best Prime Minister?

Domino (X-Men) - the Zazie Beets version from Deadpool 2.

Because...

a) She's a woman of colour (which is basically who should be running every government)

and

b) luck is always on her side.

Jordan Gray

If you could have a super-power for the day, what would you have and what would you do with it?

Dominion over insects. Because it would be cool. And I would be a supervillain for 24 hours. Sorry, but I know myself too well.

Before comedy you worked in the music biz. What parts of the music world would you like to bring to comedy and vice versa?

My show is 40% musical comedy, so I've found a nice balance between those two worlds. I think Musicians could learn a lot about humility from Comedians. And Comedians could learn a lot about fashion from Musicians.

All the music in your show is original, how long does it take to write a song?

Depends on which method of averaging you prefer. It takes me a day or so to write the song itself. But I've only written 7 musical comedy songs in 4 years, so the math is a bit janky.

In your show you talk about being called brave, what do you think deserves to be called the bravest thing you've done?

True story, I once had to fight a wolf, in someone's living room. Come to show and I'll tell you all about it...
