Helen Bauer: 5 tips on improving your self-confidence

In need of a confidence boost, we reached out to Helen Bauer for some tips...

1. Full tongue make out with yourself every morning in the mirror

Sure, you may not be 15 anymore and not need to practice. However a good make out sesh with you, yourself and I will of course get you feeling very 'into yourself' and therefore mad confident.

Please clean mirror after use and don't get too attached to yourself, would be awful to break your own heart.

2. Social media

Take time on social media to mute anything that hurts your soul, and follow Dads of Disney (an account of DILFs in Disney parks) and Round Boys (account of just tubby animals being adorable). These two accounts are all you need.

It is hard to compare yourself to a cute little hamster or a dad hugging Goofy. If you can feel bad after that, this article may not be for you.

3. Ego. No one is thinking of you

Such a simple one but so important. Confidence has a lot to do with what you think people are thinking of you. They are not thinking about you or looking at you so just do you.

4. Accept that confidence is not permanent

Once you realise this, life becomes easier. I used to just think you are either a confident person or not. It made me feel so weird because my confidence would be there one day and gone the next. Now I realise that is just what it is like for everyone.

Run with it when it is there and when it is gone, it's okay. Everyone needs a break from being full out going and confident. I'm lucky to have plenty of confident moments and to be able to remember my next one is just around the corner.

5. Be an idiot

This is incredibly important. Have no self-awareness or control. You will miss a lot of judgement that breaks down your self-confidence if you are too 'thick' to notice it.

I found out a year ago I was bullied at school. I had no idea, I genuinely thought they were laughing with, not at me. Shout out to my friends for pointing it out and shout out to little me for being an idiot who did not notice.
