Grace Campbell has a complicated relationship with men
A Show About Me(n) is Grace Campbell's "shameless and dynamic" show about her complicated relationship with men. Let's find out more...
Please describe your show in five words.
Obsessed. Terrified. Outrageous. Graphic. Memorable.
When did you first realise you were funny?
My first words were 'Gary Neddle'. I think that was me accidentally being hilarious by undermining my big brother's obsession with Man United.
What's the most memorable moment in your career so far?
There have been so many. One of the first films I ever made was me getting Anne Robinson to watch porn for the first time in her life. That was extremely memorable.
What does being 'shameless' mean to you?
It means not being made to feel like you're too much. It's defying societies expectations on you to be a quiet, appropriate young woman. Shamelessness is owning all of the things that the patriarchy wants me to be ashamed of.
What advice would you give to other young women trying to break into the comedy world?
Don't be intimidated by older male comedians, some of whom might make you feel small in green rooms etc. Make friends with other comics and don't be afraid to ask them to be in your pack. Oh and obviously graft graft graft. Write write write. Try everything out, record every gig you to, work at making your material the best it can be.
