Comedian to offer $250 prize for best audience member
With the multitude of awards that comedians are vying for at the Edinburgh Fringe, stand-up Stuart Laws is turning the tables and offering a cash prize reward for the Best Audience Member from his show at the festival this August.
In each of his 24 shows at the Monkey Barrel venue, Laws will pick a nominee from the crowd. At the end of the Fringe, one will be chosen at random as the winner.
The prize links in with the Las Vegas theme of his show this year. He explains: "The crowned winner has the chance of winning $250 USD. But the winner also has the chance to double their winnings if they take a 50/50 chance."
Stuart Laws Is All In focuses on the 2009 trip Laws took to Vegas with a friend. There they lost $500 a day for 5 days straight and then had a chance to win it back on the final table of a poker tournament... "The only person standing in their way? Stuart, in a ridiculous gilet."
Described as "a show about how choices affect our lives, gambling and being all-in", the hour will answer questions such as "Is he a winner or a loser? Can he burn the candle at both ends? And has he been infected by the Willennium Bug?"
To be in with a chance of being selected as the best audience member, just turn up to the show, which is at Monkey Barrel on Blair Street from 1st to 25th August (not 14th) at 12:20pm.
Offering up some guidelines on how to become the best audience member, Laws describes "joining in and heckling" as negatives, but "bringing friends and laughing loud" as positive traits he is looking for.
