2018 Edinburgh Fringe

This year's biggest Edinburgh show: Prom Night

Prom Night

The biggest comedy show at this year's Fringe looks set to be Max & Ivan's Prom Night.

This one-off comedian-filled show is being staged by the same team that has previously organised the award-winning spectacle The Wrestling.

On Friday 24th August, the 'Assembly High' venue (also known as The Crags Community Sports Centre the rest of the year) will host a real life, late-night, end-of-Fringe prom... but one packed with comedians.

The organisers say: "Audiences are invited to dress-up 50s style and take a limo over to Assembly High - a brand new venue, created for this one-night-only show. There, you'll get to drink irresponsibly strong punch, have your prom photo taken (in front of the classiest balloon-arch backdrop the prom committee could afford), and dance the night away to the live rock'n'roll of house band The Cummerbunds, lead by award-winning double-act (and recent Assembly High graduates) Max & Ivan."

As the prom is a comedy production, those attending may recognise a few familiar faces...

Dara O Briain acts as The Principal of Assembly High.

Nina Conti, in full Monkey costume, will appear as a school mascot alumnus.

Jason Byrne meanwhile will be Assembly High's current mascot, the beloved 'Alfie the Ass'.

Kieran Hodgson will play the choral scholar.

Lazy Susan will be the two sole members of the Drama Club, who will be presenting some of their hard-hitting devised work.

Angelos Epithemiou (Dan Renton Skinner) meanwhile will be in attendance as the Council Noise Inspector - with one mission only, "to shut down the Party!"

The star-studded array of guest singers will include Rachel Parris and Marcus Brigstocke.

However not everyone is invited, the organisers say: "Please note: Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner Adam Riches, AKA Coach of rival school Pleasance High - is strictly BANNED from the event."
