16 year-old comedian to make her Edinburgh debut
A 16 year-old comedian is making her debut at the Edinburgh Festival this August.
Kate Talbot is set to perform a 30 minute stand-up show at the Free Sisters venue from the 2nd to 11th August.
Kate is no stranger to comedy. Her father, Christian Talbot, is also a comedian. In 2014, at the age of 12, Kate won the Malcolm Hardee Cunning Stunt Award in the process of helping her dad promote his show. The publicity ruse involved her walking up to unsuspecting punters in the street and ask "have you seen my Daddy?". When they became concerned, she'd then flyer them with details of her father's show.
Now aged 16, Northern Ireland based Kate is heading back to the Fringe with her own stand-up show about the perils and pitfalls of being a young adolescent, the pettiness of Belfast's Titanic Museum, and how to avoid joining a cult.
Her biography says: "Kate Talbot is the daughter of comedian Christian Talbot and a too cool for school, schoolgirl. She won the Malcolm Hardee Cunning Stunt Award in 2014 and has been dining out on that ever since. This is her first Edinburgh Fringe show but not her first Edinburgh Fringe."
Kate has already gained some press quotes for her marketing. The Guilty Feminist host Deborah Frances-White says: "Kate Talbot is a precociously talented young legend. See her now before she grows up and you can't get a ticket for her stadium show (or she's a washed-up child star in rehab)."
She also has a quote from Christian Talbot, which is less helpful. It states Kate is: "A drain, both financially and emotionally."
Kate Talbot Has Peaked Too Soon is at The Free Sisters at 4:30pm from the 2nd to 11th August.
