Fringe Q&A: What are you putting in your suitcase?

A hazmat suit, a horse's head, a Mr Miyagi doll, five kilos of dried super-long spaghetti, and Immodium - just some of the things that comedians are putting in their suitcases ahead of getting on planes and trains bound for the Edinburgh Festival.

David William Hughes presents Elizabethan

Tobias Bacon died of Love in 1618.
Join him on the 400th anniversary of his death as he finds out how.

Tobias Bacon ~ drinker, smoker, tights-wearer, and lover ~ recounts his life story in this historical musical comedy based on genuine Renaissance songs. How exactly is it possible to die of Love? Why did Tobias not make it to heaven like his father? And what, exactly, is to be made of this new-fangled fashion of smoking tobacco?

This brand new solo show is unique in its combination of comedy and authentic performances of Renaissance music. With the help of the audience, David William Hughes plays Tobias, and several of his lovers, all whilst singing and playing the lute in a one-man musical featuring Elizabethan songs of sadness, satire, and seduction. This show highlights the wit and myriad perspectives that can be found in Renaissance music, and brings this wonderful music to a wider audience, with a deft comic and theatrical touch.
