2017 Edinburgh Fringe
Neighbourhood Watch
Alan Ayckbourn's comedy for our times. When Martin and his sister Hilda move into respectable Bluebell Hill, they quickly decide to band together with their neighbours to keep out undesirable elements. After their treasured garden gnome is thrown through their French windows in an act of vandalism, matters quickly escalate. Pretensions, hypocrisy and fear spiral into absurdity complicated by illicit relationships, acrimony, and ultimately a descent into violence. Entertaining, thought-provoking and painfully funny. Neighbourhood Watch was first performed at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough in September 2011.
