2017 Edinburgh Fringe
Otto & Astrid: Eurosmash! (Die Roten Punkte)
Berlin's premiere art rock duo, Otto and Astrid of Die Roten Punkte, perform unashamedly slick, Eurovision-inspired pop from their new album Eurosmash! amidst some inevitable sibling dysfunction and punk spirit anarchy. 'An enjoyably silly hour of good tunes' (Guardian). 'Pitch-perfect pop parody' **** (Scotsman). 'White Stripes mated with Laurel and Hardy in the Black Forest' **** (TimeOut). 'Hilarious, outrageous, set to be bigger than Jesus' **** (List). 'Made me want to jump out of my seat and dance' ***** (ThreeWeeks).

Three questions with German Europop siblings Otto & Astrid. These answers are from Astrid Rot:
[n]In your own opinions, who's the most talented member of the band?[/b]
Obviously that would be me. If you don't have a drummer keeping good time, then the whole thing would fall apart. Sometimes Otto says he has to constantly change tempo to match me because I'm always speeding up, but that's intentional, I need to keep him focussed so the audience stays enthralled.
Surviving Edinburgh is always a tough gig, would you recommend cake or fruit to get you through?
Definitely cake. I discovered the cake shop Lovecrumbs last time we were there. They have an amazing bacon and chocolate sponge which is the best thing you can put in your mouth in the whole entire universe.
Imagine soft chocolate sponge oozing around in your mouth and then your tongue discovers a little crispy bit of bacon, and so you bite into it, releasing its piggy goodness into your tastebuds along with the soft, creamy chocolate... I highly recommend it as a survival kit for both the highs AND lows of Edinburgh.
Definitively please explain exactly how your parents were killed.
It was my twelfth birthday and we were all on the way to the zoo. It a short walk through the forest from the back of our old house in Grunewald.
It was very foggy and difficult to see far ahead. Otto was annoying me so much whining and complaining about his sneakers getting muddy. I had my rag doll with me and our Mum was holding one arm and I the other. But then my Dad fell over the train tracks in the fog and pulled our mother with him just as the train was going past and although she was holding onto my little rag doll, the stitches fell apart and it's arm came off in my mother's hand. So they were both squished together at the same time.
