Marny Godden: Where's John's Porridge Bowl?
After a critically acclaimed Edinburgh run and sell-out Soho Theatre show, seasoned lunatic Marny Godden returns with another 'sublimely silly show' (Times). An hour of pure, joyful idiocy from one of comedy's most loved buffoons. Featuring a ragtag collection of characters including an prancing pup, a clog-wielding prophet and a toothless twit. All wallies, mugwumps and fellow idiots are welcome to join in the hunt for John's porridge bowl. ***** (ThreeWeeks). ***** (BroadwayBaby.com). ***** (Scotsman). ***** (WhatsPeenSeen.co.uk). ***** (One4Review.co.uk). www.pay-what-you-want.info

"Well," said Luca Cupani, "the Fringe is all on the shoulders of the performers. You do your show and, among the punters, there might be some industry people. But the industry it is hidden; you don't see them. In Montreal it is more visible - the industry. The companies, they promote the shows, they invite people and then the punters come. It is on the same level as Edinburgh but different."

One of the great joys of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the chance to see an assortment of mad weirdos push comedy to new levels with inventive new characters and brilliant new sketch narratives that offer something different to the great stand-up also on offer. But who to see that is an example of the previous paragraph? Well, you're in luck because here are our picks of the best sketch and character comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe 2016.
Laugh Out London, 11th July 2016Marny Godden: Edinburgh Fringe 2016 interview
Marny Godden first came to our attention with a great turn as the love interest in Weirdos' pantomime The Colonel. Since then we've got to know our solo work, which mixes beautifully insane characters with a real gift for clowning. There won't be another show like this at the Edinburgh Fringe this year.

One of the stand-out shows from last year wasn't a stand-up. It was a supremely silly clown show that had me in stitches.
