Steen Raskopoulos: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Steen Raskopoulos

Steen Raskopoulos answers 10 questions about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I started performing improv and sketch comedy at Sydney University in 2006. That was my first taste in comedy, but I've only been doing solo stuff since 2013. Since then I've been lucky enough to perform in Edinburgh and film Top Coppers for BBC Three. I've also just wrapped the first Australian version of Whose Line Is It Anyway?. I'm in a gelato shop currently asking for free samples until I'm full. I guess everything's coming up Raskopoulos.

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself.

1. My dad represented Australia in football.
2. My youngest sister represented Australia at the youth Olympics.
3. I am a constant disappointment to my family.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

What a challenging task but one I will try to answer. My show focuses on character, sketch, improv but the best thing is...

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

Kidnapping and ransom.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

Buy healthy things to eat and drink. Quite well, I'm odds on favourite to not get scurvy and to become the rat king of our house.

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

Scout's Honour in Redfern. Dem sandwiches damnnnnnnnnn.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

James Acaster owes me five quid so, I'd like to try and find him and ask for it back.

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

I'd get Susie Youssef to host because she's the best. I'd then have Lolly Adefope, Lou Sanders, Joel Dommett, James Acaster (if he pays me back), Lazy Susan, Rhys Nicholson, Larry Dean, Felicity Ward, Adam Hess, Axis of Awesome, David O'Doherty, Austentatious, Mae Martin and Nish Kumar.

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Daniel Sloss, he always tells me how much he loves me and how great I am. Just leave me alone mate.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

I think if people saw my show I would cure their fear of audience participation. You're welcome.

'Steen Raskopoulos - You Know the Drill' is at Underbelly, Cowgate at 7:40pm on 4-14, 16-28 Aug. Listing
