Stuart Mitchell answers 10 questions about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I made my comedy circuit debut in 2009. I am lucky enough to have performed at all the top comedy clubs in the UK as well as Las Vegas, New York and Los Angeles. In 2013 I was shortlisted for the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award and was a Finalist in the NATYS competition.

I have great fun on BBC Radio Scotland's comedy panel show Breaking The News and have supported Stewart Francis and Hal Cruttenden on their national tours. In 2016 I toured Australia as part of 'Best of the Fest' line up following in the footsteps of many major TV names.

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (but mix them up, keep us guessing!).

1. I was the youngest ever person to work at HM Treasury as a junior Economist.

2. I am missing the tips of two fingers as a result of a stag do in Spain!

3. I was voted Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 for a social enterprise business.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

From accidents to losing both parents, my show is a take on dealing with life's misfortunes and coming out the other end unscathed.

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

I managed to grab Will Ferrell the morning after he saw me perform in LA! The clip has been shared over 400 times online and viewed over 75,000 times! It seems to have shifted lots of tickets so far.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

I have bought a NUTRiBULLET® and if the fringe doesn't go well I might be pulling a bullet through my head! I don't drink that much after I have been sick 3 times. It is a good rule to follow. I am staying at my sisters flat during the Fringe so I can cook all my own food!

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

Being paid! People forget when you do Edinburgh that you give up all your weekend club work for 4 weeks! I will also miss my own bed however I am taking my wife with me to share the single bed at my sister's. It will be weird sharing a bed with my wife and sister but we are in Leith after all!

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

Trying to make conversation as a Glaswegian with the people of Edinburgh. Apart from that I can not wait to visit Mums. As in the café, as my mum is dead. That would be weird. Although it would be nice to see her again. As long as she was paying.

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

MC - Raymond Mearns
Opening Act - Boy with Tape on His Face
Middle Act - Randy (from Randy Writes a Novel)
Closing Act - Phil Nichol

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Probably a tram. As the last thing I need is another accident.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

I talk about my dead mum and my dead dad. So at my show you get 2 for 1. The show is my story and I think it's a bit different from anything else you will see in Edinburgh. Most importantly I am happy with it and I feel that comes across on stage. I look forward to seeing you there!

'Stuart Mitchell: Dealt a Bad Hand' is at Pleasance Courtyard at 7:15pm until the 28th August. Listing
