Sarah Callaghan: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Sarah Callaghan

Sarah Callaghan answers 10 questions about her 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I started in 2010; since then I've done 7 Edinburghs and 2 hour-long shows and I did the Sydney and Perth comedy festivals this year, which were amazing - I'm not a bitter and twisted comedian yet, I'm still having fun so it's not too bad!

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself.

1. My great grandma is Jamaican.
2. I got drunk with Doug Stanhope when he was at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.
3. Before I started doing comedy I lived in Madrid teaching English.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

Can you change your life in 24 hours? Does it take more than that or can it change in just a few seconds?

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

The cunning plan I have to get people in is to just be funny.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

The first few years I came to Edinburgh I ended up being drunk about eight times a day but this year I'm on a health flex! Been hitting gym and trying to eat healthy and no booze - it's only day 3 though, anyone fancy getting slaughtered tomorrow?

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

Not bumping into comedians every 2 seconds and having to lie about coming to their shows.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

The Zoo. Love a zoo, man. I love otters, wombats, penguins, monkeys; elephants are my favourite but I ain't prejudiced, I'll look at anything.

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

Louis CK, Jack Dee, Glenn Wool, Sam Simmons and me. Obvs.

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Mythical? Alright, Medusa - what an aggressive c*nt.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

Because I'm rated 5 stars on Trip Advisor.

'Sarah Callaghan: 24' is at Pleasance Dome at 8:20pm on 3-14, 16-28 Aug. Listing
