Paul McCaffrey: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Paul McCaffrey

Paul McCaffrey answers 10 questions about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show.

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

Started in 2006 and won a couple of new act competitions and got signed to an agent. Gave up my day job (call centre so no great loss) in 2009. I did Big Value and AAA stand-up package shows at the Fringe in 2009/2010, respectively, and since then I have done four solo shows here. I have performed on Russell Howard's Good News and Russel Howard's Stand Up Central and was in two series of BBC Three's Impractical Jokers. Now, I headline all the major comedy clubs around the UK and have been supporting Sean Lock on tour this year. Fairly happy with where I'm at. I would love to do more TV but really I'm pretty blessed.

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself.

1. I had ballet lessons as a child
2. I can't ride a bike
3. I was diagnosed with labrynthitis on the day David Bowie died

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

A very funny set of anecdotal/observational comedy in which I will talk about life, love and finding a pube on my sausage.

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

My venue is the City Cafe, so my cunning plan to get more punters in is the all day breakfast they serve upstairs being so delicious. Hopefully people will come for the food and stay for the comedy.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

Have joined a gym and bought some bananas.

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

My record collection, my cats and the sourdough bread from my local bakery.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

Eating the delicious curry.

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

Michael McIntyre (MC),

Sean Lock

Kevin Bridges

Peter Kay

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

The landlord from my local pub because I owe him a tenner!

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

I'll be your best friend!?

'Paul McCaffrey: Fresh Hell' is at City Cafe at 6:45pm on 4-14, 16-28 Aug. Listing
