Lynne Jassem: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions
Lynne Jassem answers 10 questions about her 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...
Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?
My career started at the age of 3... when my mother would force me onto one knee and make me sing Mamie... alla Al Jolson (whom you probably never heard of). it was full force from there on in... actually my show From Como to Homo is based in part on my early years in Show Buzz.
I am happy with where I am at in that... it is where I am and so I guess I belong here... might as well enjoy it.
Tell us a truth and lie about yourself (but mix them up, keep us guessing!).
1. I am horribly insecure and have a tremendous amount of stage fright.
2. I have always wanted to have hair on my chest....so I eat a lot of wheat germ to make it grow.
Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.
Story of ambition in early TV, stage mothers, gender dysfunction and mortality. All told through tap dance, physical comedy, song and multimedia...
Any cunning plans to get more punters in?
uhhhh...whats a punter? Does it have to do with Golf?
What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?
Coffee, pizza, doughnuts and coffee, salads and coffee, vitamins washed down with coffee.
What will you miss most while you're away from home?
Awwwwww, My pussy... cat that is.
Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?
Seeing a tonne of other shows, visiting with my partners friends from the UK. Sleeping, and having more coffee... oh and I gotta see the Castle.
If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?
I assume you mean Living or dead?... Living would be my dear friend Michele Balan, Lynne Ruth Miller, Peter Michael Marino, and dead... well... Sid Ceasar, Robin Williams, and Buddy Hacket.
Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.
Brenda Bufalino... my tap dance mentor. I suppose I stole a couple of really great steps from her.
