Katie Brennan: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Katie Brennan

Katie Brennan answers 10 questions about her 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

Well I trained as an actress and was doing a fairly decent trade playing all the comedy parts (mums, nuns and nurses are my speciality), and people told me I was funny. So I started writing my own solo shows in 2012 with my writing partner, composer Joseph Atkins. And it's good fun so far! I mean, we'd still like to be playing the O2 but as relative newcomers on the scene we're pretty chuffed with where we are right now.

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself.

1. I once went Go-Karting with Boyzone.
2. I have a debilitating fear of buttons.
3. I can't stick my tongue out.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

A warm, musical hug for anyone experiencing a sense of feeling a bit lost and WAHHH in their twenties. Also funny as f**k.

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

They'll come if I promise to get a boob out, right?

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

I took out shares in Berocca just before coming up here. That should stave off the scurvy until at least week 3.

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

I left my favourite bra at home by accident and I won't lie, I'm already missing it like a limb.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

DEEP FRIED HAGGIS

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

The Horne Section, Tim Key, Rhys James, Tamar Broadbent and Caitlin Moran (I know she's not TECHNICALLY a comedian but she is my Queen so she has to come).

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

The guy I snogged in Espionage in 2008 after doing a jagerbomb and throwing up in my mouth. Why? I think that story speaks for itself. Halcyon days.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

BECAUSE IT'S WELL GOOD!! Wait you need more than that? Okay, well because it genuinely is funny (I promise), it's touching, it's got the sauciest, cleverest songs on the Fringe and the best 90s medley you will ever hear. Plus I wear so much glitter it looks like a unicorn has jizzed on me.

'Katie Brennan's Quarter-Life Crisis' is at Udderbelly, George Square at 10:50pm on 3-14, 16-29 Aug. Listing
