Ever Mainard: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Ever Mainard

Ever Mainard answers 10 questions about her 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I'd say I'm pretty happy where I'm! I started doing stand-up and improv when I was 18 years old at a small club in my neighbouring town and in Austin, Texas. My first year was very awkward but fun. I didn't have much of a strong point of view (I was 18) but after class in Austin I would always be snuck into bars. Chicago was a great place to learn and perform comedy. That city has a wonderful camaraderie and love for comedy and theatre. I wouldn't change a thing.

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (but mix them up, keep us guessing!).

1. Growing up I had a truck with a gun rack installed.

2. My grandpa used to try and get me to learn to ride a cow as if it was a horse.

3. My grandmother is the person who taught me how to properly shoot.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

About growing up in small town Texas, coming of age in Chicago, a failed engagement in LA, and an unexpected journey into spirituality.

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

I don't know what punters means. Probably the first step in my plan would be to figure that out!

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

I plan on walking as much as possible. I'm bringing a bunch of protein bars and individually wrapped almond packets.

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

DANG! Tough answer. I think the thing I will miss most is having my own car.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

I'm looking forward to just hanging out and hopefully getting a chance to explore Scotland. What a boring answer, huh? NO but really- does anyone have any recommendations for a secluded cabin in the highland? No creeps, please.

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

Katia Kvinge
Chris Gethard
Sam Simmons

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

What a tough question! I can't think of anyone that I really wouldn't want to bump into... Probably someone I owed money to.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

Well for starters I just got excited about the announcement of the movie, Bridget Jones's Baby. So if THAT doesn't tell you what I'm all about then nothing else will. I'm full of laid back vibes, cool characters, and a brilliant wit. Does that distinguish me enough?

'Ever Mainard: Let Me Be Your Main Man' is at Gilded Balloon at 6:15pm until the 28th August. Listing
