Olaf Falafel: How to survive the Fringe... a Vine guide

Olaf Falafel

Olaf Falafel is one of the most popular comedians on Vine (If you're wondering what that means: it's a bit like Twitter, but for 6 second videos).

The Edinburgh Festival can be a tough time for performers but, fear not, because Olaf has ten survival tips for comedians, based on his Vines...

1. Food

All living things require nourishment. Comedians in Edinburgh, although dead inside, are no different. Don't overdo the takeaways - if you must indulge, make sure they deliver and that their food is fresh.

2. Cook

Try to cook your own meals once in a while.

3. Fitness

Your fitness is also important - why not use the month of August to work on your six pack.

4. See something different

It's easy to get caught up in your own bubble during the festival, try to experience something other than comedy in your free time. Watch a street theatre troupe, for example, Reservoir Pigeons are debuting at Edinburgh this year.

5. See a film

Sometimes it's good to take a group trip to the cinema with fellow comics to watch this year's feel-good summer movie.

6. Mating Dance

The Edinburgh Festival can be a pressure cooker of lust. And while it's important to keep your sexual stroganoff simmering, if you must practice your mating dance, ensure that your Edinburgh house mates are all out.

7. Don't get drunk

Don't get drunk and call your ex.

8. Think Cinematic

Your show is the reason why you're here - don't worry about your budget, think cinematic and leave a lasting impression on your audience.

9. Deal with hecklers

Be prepared for hecklers.

10. Gimmicky Flyers

Don't resort to gimmicky flyers - that's my USP, back off, go and get your own thing!

Olaf Falafel and The Cheese Of Truth is at 4:15pm at The City Café until the 28th August.
