Nicola Cross: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions
Nicola Cross answers 10 questions about her 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...
Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?
I started doing improv and bits of character comedy around 3 years ago. Then I went to clown school in France for two years. So, just getting started, really. I'm just happy to be doing it at the moment. That's a very clown perspective: Just happy to be there.
Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (but mix them up, keep us guessing!).
1. I run a vegan blog.
2. I once spend a week in the Arizona desert with Alanis Morissette.
3. I have a pug called Tallulah.
Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.
Adventures of Tracey Tracey is a one woman character comedy show. Lots of physical comedy. Silly and tragic and a little bit vulgar.
Any cunning plans to get more punters in?
Not really. I can't compete with all the extroverts. Just going to try and make a good show, really. How boring.
What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?
I already run off Diet Coke anyway. So I'll just double the intake.
What will you miss most while you're away from home?
Probably watching EastEnders 4 times a week and not feeling guilty about it. I'll still do that, but I'll feel guilty about it.
Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?
Drinkin' and sexin' and watchin' and eatin'.
If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?
I'd have a gang of Ecole Philippe Gaulier people. John-Luke Roberts, Neil Sinclair, The Travelling Sisters, Zach & Viggo, Nathaly Leduc, The Plague of Idiots, Elf Lyons.
Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.
I went to university in Edinburgh. So every corner is haunted with memories of disgrace. So I'll say "myself 7 years ago."
Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?
I don't think many people are doing the style of comedy that's in 'Adventures of Tracey Tracey' at the moment (maybe for good reason). It's a single character narrative, told largely through physical comedy. A bit like a female Mr Bean. It's honest and autobiographical, whilst being surreal and fantastical too.
'Adventures of Tracey Tracey' is at Moriarty's at 12:30pm until the 28th August. Listing
