Emily Tresidder: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Emily Tresidder

Emily Tresidder answers 10 questions about her 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show.

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I started stand-up in 2014 - before that I did sketch comedy. I've toured Australia with my solo show, performed with some of the world's most-loved comics and received some really wonderful critical acclaim. Now I'm here in Scotland performing at Gilded Balloon. Needless to say, I'm pretty thrilled with where I'm at. Always onward and upward!

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself.

1. I hate the texture of raw tomato - yuck. But seriously.

2. I find John Travolta attractive, not young Travolta, then and NOW Travolta.

3. When I was little I wanted to be a bus driver.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

Super, great, fun, times. An hour of interactive whimsy, and some deeper moments, the show is essentially lasagna, it has layers. Must see!

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

Just good banter, I think having a bit of a chat is always helpful, because then punters get a feel for who you and what they can expect. Plus sky writing, I'm getting a sky writer.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

I brought a skipping rope with me! Plus I'm on a budget! So the plan is to head to the meadows daily for some cardio and making majority of my meals at home, so that way I keep it healthy and cheap!

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

I want to say my bed, but my bed sucks. It's actually awful. Probably my local bars, I know the bartenders, I love their drinks and it's like a home away from home. Though I've already spotted some sweet spots here that I'm eager to check out!

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

Arthur's seat! Holyrood Park! Watching plenty of other shows... and eating! I know this cheats on question 5, but also when in Rome (Edinburgh), you know? Last time I was here I had a deep fried Mars Bar and it was sickeningly sweet, but had to be done. I also love chips and gravy, so yeah, about question 5...

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

Tom Ballard
Sara Pascoe
Luisa Omielan
Felicity Ward
Bo Burnham
Aunty Donna
Max & Ivan

Just nothing but wonderful, incredibly hilarious acts.

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

A Dementor. I'm not about them, they're scary and unnecessary.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

The show is a lot of fun, it changes every night and the more my audience give me the more fun they have, so if you've got good banter yourself and can roll with the punches (or strange requests as the case may be) then this show is a must! If you can't, the show is also a must, because I said so.

'Emily Tresidder: Crazy Is' is at Gilded Balloon at 9:30pm on 3-29 Aug. Listing
