Britney: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions
The duo behind 'Britney' answers 10 questions about their 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...
Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?
This is our debut show at the Fringe so we're pretty fresh of the comedy boat. Ellen was a Cambridge Footlight for 3 years and Charly has training at New York's Upright Citizens Brigade. We've been writing separately for a while, this is our first show together since we were 18. We're very happy with where we are at, geographically, because Edinburgh is lovely and we're happy in the bigger sense because too. Thanks for asking.
Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (but mix them up, keep us guessing!).
1. Our palms are sweaty, knees weak, and our arms are heavy.
2. There's vomit on our sweater already (Mum's spaghetti) :(
3. We're nervous but on the surface we look calm and ready.
Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.
An uplifting true story told through comedy and characters about two best friends after one is diagnosed with a brain tumour. Say Whhaaaatt?
Any cunning plans to get more punters in?
An elaborate sex scandal with John Prescott (who is at the Fringe this year). We're in the final planning stage and let's just say it's not for kids.
What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?
Don't have one. What's yours? We'd love some tips.
What will you miss most while you're away from home?
Our enemies. We like to keep them close.
Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?
Going to Frankenstein's, seeing a lot of shows, getting laid.
If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?
Mae Martin, Sally Phillips, Rowan Atkinson.
Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.
Russell Howard, because Ellen shook his hand when he reached to take one of our flyers and she feels weird about it now.
Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?
Because it's got more heart than most, it's a true story, and it's hopefully a pretty uplifting show.
'Britney' is at Assembly George Square Studios at 6:35pm until the 29th August. Listing
