A must-see cabaret show starring burly baritone turned delicious diva Robert Hofmann, who is classically trained and now outrageously unchained. Hofmann burst onto the Australian cabaret scene winning Best Cabaret (WA) at Perth Fringe in 2014, taking adult audiences on a wild ride with his unique brand of unorthodox comedy. Hofmann presents a whirlwind of characters clad in sequins and leather, in an energetic blend of visual humour, spicy stand-up, poignant performances of operatic perfection and pleasurable pop. Hofmann's high-energy act with pianist Tommaso Pollio is hilarious - catch this compulsory cabaret at The Boards.

Desperately Young at Heart is compulsory cabaret, starring burly baritone turned delicious diva Robert Hofmann. Hofmann presents a whirlwind of characters clad in sequins and leather, in an energetic blend of visual humour, spicy stand-up, and poignant performances peppered with operatic perfection and original pop.

Catch Australian cabaret star Robert Hofmann as he struts his unique brand of unorthodox comedy at The Boards at The Edinburgh Playhouse during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Robert Hofmann is classically trained and now outrageously unchained as he morphs on stage into a cast of hilarious characters whose common bond is their love of singing, sexual frustration and desperation. Hofmann's inspired incarnations include a repressed Irish nun, Christian Liturgical singer, a statuesque singing teacher in four inch heels and a leather-loving German psychologist-cum-vocal coach. Hofmann's wickedly witty characters benefit from his beautiful baritone voice and perfect comic timing.

Prepare to be swept along by a current of comedy and music that is both eclectic and original, ranging from Schubert to Sinatra, Richard Rodgers to Duke Ellington and featuring Hofmann's own composition: the rather raunchy retro pop song You Are The Subject Of My Next Sexual Fantasy. Hofmann infuses the music with innuendo by cleverly threading his own lyrics through the score.

Hofmann trained at the Sydney Conservatorium and performed regularly with Opera Australia and the Western Australian Opera before bursting onto the Australian cabaret scene in 2014, winning Best Cabaret (WA) at Perth Fringe World and nominated the following year with his follow-up show.

Joining Hofmann from Australia is brilliant pianist Tommaso Pollio, the wind beneath Hofmann's wings as he soars vocally and theatrically in this raucous combination of comedy and music. Directed by Stuart Maunder, Desperately Young at Heart takes adult audiences on a wild ride into high-energy cabaret.
