They say 50 is the new 30, if that's true then I am only 27. I am more Peter Pan-demonium than Peter Pan, I am not and never will be a shining example of how to live your life, but it's not my fault! I have an incurable affliction, it's terminal - I suffer from the Human Condition. It gets us all in the end. So why worry? 'A level of consistency few can match' (Edinburgh Evening News). 'Exceptionally funny and cathartic' (Scotsman). 'He knows how to swear properly' (Billy Connolly).

In no particular order, here are some of our favourite Scottish comedians performing at this year's Edinburgh Festival.

Over the years a divide has grown between 'Edinburgh acts' and 'circuit acts'. The latter get often difficult rooms full of people howling with laughter over 20-minute set every Friday and Saturday night, but often don't get the critical acclaim of the festival darlings, who typically use their hours to offer something more emotional, theatrical or artistically daring. Some acts straddle both camps, of course, but here we present ten Edinburgh-bound acts known more for their work in the clubs than at the Fringe, but who've certainly proved their abilities in front of audiences over the years...
