Scottish BAFTA Nominated character comedian Katia Kvinge (As seen on BBC, MTV & Channel 4) hits the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with her fast paced, one-woman, multi-character, debut hour comedy show. Fresh from performing at the Second City, Groundlings & UCB theatre Los Angeles, Katia will be bringing her vast array of characters to Just The Tonic this August.
Characters within Karakters include: Miss Norway a naïve and repressed beauty pageant winner, Mary Jane from Ed's 1950's diner, Cindy, a young American girl auditioning for Saturday Night Live, Charlie a Children's Entertainer who can't communicate well with adults, and Wendy the Dating Expert with a 100% match success rate.
Katia has performed in various television shows including, Lipservice (BBC Three), River City (BBC Scotland), Case Histories (BBC1), Pram Face (BBC Three), Garrows Law (BBC1), and The Robert Verdi Show (MTV). She has also appeared in many films such as Life Understood Backwards, Head Case, Love Bite, Tea With Honey, Love And The Grotesque, World Weary and the Scottish BAFTA Award Nominated Talking Piranhas.
Katia has trained in Acting and Clown with Philippe Gaulier (Mentor to Sacha Baron Cohen) and has spent the past year training in improv and sketch in Los Angeles, where she has garnered many writing and live performing credits to her name. She is a writer for the Saturday Night Live sketch packet at iO, West Hollywood, a writer and performer in The Second City Conservatory (alumni Steve Carrell and Tina Fey), a writer and performer in The Groundlings Theatre School (alumni Will Ferrel and Kristen Wiig) and a writer and performer in the Upright Citizens Brigade (alumni Aubrey Plaza and Zach Woods). She is also a writer and creator of Scandinavians, a sitcom currently in development with NBC Universal. In the UK Katia has completed sell out runs in Edinburgh University's home-grown student sketch troupe, The Edinburgh Revue Sketch Show between 2011 to 2013.
