Twins answer 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions
Twins - Annie McGrath and Jack Barry - need your help. They think they'll be able to afford a coronation chicken baguette each day, but can you assist in getting them a drink?
1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?
We started comedy at University, when we were both in The Leeds Tealights, a sketch comedy group. After graduating, we decided to continue performing together but as a double-act, and this year will be our third Edinburgh as Twins. Don't ask us if we're happy with where we're at or we'll cry.
2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.
Twins: Pret A Comedy is a sketch comedy show for people who hate sketch comedy. Deliberately shambolic, extremely laidback and (hopefully) fun/funny.
3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?
We do it 'cos we love it(?)
4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?
Our plan is to answer loads of online interview questions ahead of the Fringe.
5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?
Enough money to buy a coronation chicken baguette every day, but not enough to buy a drink to go with it.
6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?
In our first year, our venue had a window behind the stage with a view onto a building site, so the backdrop to our sketches was builders walking around, drilling. Other strange experiences: setting free a pigeon which flew into our bedroom; sleeping in the corridor on some concrete stairs when we were locked out of our flat; Bob Mortimer coming to see our show.
7. What other shows are you hoping to see?
The Wrestling, Lolly, Natasia & Ellie, Mae Martin, Lou Sanders, Liam Williams, Stuart Laws and loads more we've probably forgotten.
8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?
Rik Mayall, Louis CK, Oyster Eyes.
9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.
Our triplet. He didn't make it into the show this year. Might be awkward.
10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?
We're both really nice and deserve a break. Plus we're on at midnight so there's not much else going on at that time.
'Twins: Pret a Comedy' is at 12:01am at Pleasance Courtyard on 7-16, 19-23, 25-30 August. Listing
