Edinburgh Q and A

Tina C answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

Christopher Green

Tina C isn't in Edinburgh this August to perform a comedy show. In fact, the world-famous country music star is at the festival to launch her new biography.

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I don't tell jokes. I am a country music singer. However this book launch of my memoirs is gonna be so damn entertaining they put it in the comedy section. In fact this show about my life story has listed in every section because it's theatrical, musical, intergenerational, physical, and spiritual and so much more. I am multi-genre.

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

It's me reading bits from my sensational biography Herstory: Complete & Utter Country Volume 2. Brace yourselves for a roller coaster of emotion!

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

You obviously haven't been backstage at the Grand Ole Opry or you wouldn't ask such a naïve question.

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

We're more worried about stalkers and obsessives.

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

I haven't had to worry about money since my second album. It's all about the love.

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

I got arrested one year, but we laughed about it at the station! The story is in my biography of course. Why not pre-order your copy?

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

I value everybody who is appearing but I have a lot of work to do on myself. So after exercise, meditation and a harsh regieme of not eating I doubt I'll have time.

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

Minnie Pearl. And the entire cast of Hee Haw.

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

My brother who used to be my sister. He now lives on a Scotch Island. I support the trans gender issues fully. I just can't stand him. Never could. Baby, girl, woman or man.

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

Because they ain't no fools.

'Tina C: Herstory' is at 7:30pm at Underbelly Potterrow on 5-17 August. Listing
