Edinburgh Q and A

Timmy Drain answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

Timmy Drain

Timmy Drain has a straight-to-the-point show title, which is 'I know how to make the women I sleep with laugh'. Let's find out more from him...

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I was dared into open mic comedy late last year (2014) and have really caught the bug for it and, crucially, I've proven good at it. I say I'm good at it... well people have found my efforts at the job laughable; wink, wink.

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

Random, fun, brilliant because it has me in it obviously. Laugh at me, with me and at yourself a little.

Age 22, Rebel.

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

I relish a challenge. I'm going to keep the comedy career going at least part-time regardless. Coming to Edinburgh is my speculative attempt to see if I can make it my fulltime career or start to.

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

No, I'm very much a no nonsense guy. You won't find any dramatics from me from an advertising point of you. Unless your Keeley Hazell, who I'll be prepared to sacrifice all self-dignity for.

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

Financially a loss of some degree is expected. Personally and professionally the profits are going to be huge.

All Yours tattoo

6. What are you most looking forward to about your first Edinburgh Festival?

Being part of one of the best and probably the most diverse festivals in the world. There's this show night buzz that you get, or I get anyway. I'd heard it described by performers before and yeah its bloody good and bloody good fun. Why wouldn't I want to try and make this my job?

My audiences before have been indigenous and generally very local to where I live in Suffolk, in England. That's given me a few people I know at each gig but coming to Edinburgh I'm alone which will be a part of the challenge. The whole challenge coming to a head is what I' looking forward to.

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

As many as possible and as much of a variety as possible. I'm open minded but with no specific shows pined up. There's this great guy called Timmy Drain always does a great show but I'm working while that prick is on.

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

I've spent a lot of time being ill and laid up practically dew to Crohn's Disease. I've watched and explored a lot of comics and musicians. Waaay tooo tuuuff to define yeah this is my dream line up of comics.

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Death himself, I've cheated him a few times now.

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

I've heard some experienced people saying it's too much. I'll say from my inexperienced position 1700 sure is a lot. If you have a taste for pushing the limits, have a darker-very dark taste in comedy, want to give a guy a chance and have a laugh while doing it all. It's a no Brainer for £6 come along.

'Tim Drain: I Know How to Make the Women I Sleep with Laugh' is at 7:10pm at theSpace Surgeons Hall on 25-29 August. Listing
