The Travelling Sisters answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions
Fresh from their sold out Australian tour, Lucy Fox, Ell Sachs and Laura Trenerry say they're really excited to be performing in Edinburgh in August.
1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?
We have been performing in Australia over the past three years producing work independently and as part of festivals. We've also found ourselves in some pretty random venues: hair salons, ships, warehouses full of emos, and most famously a surprise 36th birthday (that was as much a surprise to us as it was to them). So far, we're loving it!
2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.
The Travelling Sisters is a comedy cabaret of tragically charming characters. A ridiculous and unexpected mash-up of physical comedy, live music and improvisation.
3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?
We have a collective fetish for large crowds of people rushing to shows. We're chasing the dream and we reckon we're gonna have a lot of fun.
4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?
Yes! A flash mob of sunflowers dancing to medieval music. We're recruiting!
5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?
We're hoping to make enough Scottish notes to create a paper mache ship to take out on a sunny day.
6. What are you most looking forward to about your first Edinburgh Festival?
We are so excited to meet new people, connect with audiences and other artists and see some rad shows.
7. What other shows are you hoping to see?
Nautilus by Trygve Wakenshaw, Felicity Ward (her posters always look awesome), The Plague of Idiots, Penny Greenhalgh's Pop Pop and Tessa Water's WOMANz.
8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?
Bill Bailey, Trygve Wakenshaw, Tim Minchin, French & Saunders, Mel Buttle.
9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.
Tony Abbott. That. Would. Suck.
10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?
Cause they'll love it!
'The Travelling Sisters' is at 1:15pm at Cowgatehead on 8-18, 20-29 August. Listing
