The Man answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

The Man

The mysterious creator of The Man isn't ready to reveal his true identity just yet. But what of the man behind the greasepaint...?

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I am about to begin my 20th year as a pro comic. I've been in the industry from my late teens. I've played in comedy and fringe festivals across the world as well as headlining clubs. I am currently based out of London. I'm very excited and confident with this year's festival offering.

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

Um... a theatre/stand-up hybrid that reimagines the ancient jester/fool archetype as a bizarre individual holding court at Speakers' Corner in London.

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

Because it's awesome. And I'm awesome and the show is awesome.

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

Lots of yellow grease paint and a suit and tails made of black glistening latex.

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

Enough.

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

Performing a full solo show, two days in a row, to no one.

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

Imaan after my own heart.
Why did the chicken cross the line.
Reasonable doubts.

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

Carlin, Pryor, Bruce, Hicks. With a late show hosted by the Marx Brothers.

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Addison Cresswell (RIP).

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

Cause it's totally badass, MFing brilliant and there ain't nothing else like it.

'The Man' is at 10:30pm at The Assembly Rooms on 5, 7-16, 18-30 August. Listing
