Edinburgh Q and A

Phil Wang answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

Phil Wang

Phil Wang is delivering Philth to the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe...

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I did my first ever gig at school when I was 17, so in 2007. I have since graduated from school so I suppose things are going pretty well.

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

It's a show primarily about meditation and my girlfriend. The rest is mainly dick (and vagina - women need their story told too) stuff.

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

If I'm famously stressed, that means I'm famous right??

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

The reverse side of every ticket to my show is a Subway voucher.

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

Loads.

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

Stuart Laws and Matt Winning's Comedy Roast last year, during which a bunch of comedians slowly ate a roast chicken in front of each other.

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

Lolly, Emma Sidi, Johnny Pelham and Daphne.

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

Patrice O'Neal, Maria Bamford, Armando Iannucci, Louis CK, Stewart Lee and Jim Gaffigan.

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

My old Malay teacher from when I lived in Borneo. She was very mean, but fortunately she never expressed any desire to travel to Scotland so I think I'm alright.

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

I am a kind and respectful young man. I come from a nice family, and I always try to do the right thing. Also my name is Wang! Come on. That's got to be worth SOMETHING.

'Phil Wang: Philth' is at 6pm at Pleasance Courtyard on 5-30 August. Listing
