Edinburgh Q and A

Minor Delays answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

Image shows from L to R: Joe Barnes, Abi Tedder, Harry Michell

Sketch trio Minor Delays (Abi Tedder, Harry Michell and Joe Barnes) talk about taking their second sketch show up to the Edinburgh Fringe together.

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

We all started sketching at our respective universities - for Joe and Harry that's circa 2010, for Abi slightly earlier. We met at the Fringe and formed Minor Delays in Spring [y]2014[/u], taking up our first show last year. We like writing and we like performing so as long as we just get to keep doing that, we're very happy indeed.

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

An hour laughing at the silly things that make us sad, pissed off and socially awkward - no props, no costumes, no music. Word.

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

Apparently after giving birth you forget all the pain and trauma, and whilst lying there naked, sweaty and exhausted you look down at the new life you've brought into the world and for some reason believe it was all worth it. That's how we feel on the train home.

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

Lying sweaty, naked and exhausted outside the venue, with a new born babe in our greasy mitts.

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

Asky no questions and we'll tell yee no fibs.

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

Any Ben Target show, exquisite oddities. Other than that everything gets pretty weird by three.

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

James Acaster, Spencer Jones, The Pin, DugOut's new show and of course a bit of Kitson.

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

Erm, well it'd be a long long list so let's just go for three... In terms of getting to see them live we'll go Jonny Vegas, Doctor Brown and Daniel Kitson again.

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

A reincarnated Oscar Wilde wearing a party hat and singing 'Nanananana! What's it all for?!' I don't think we could hack that mid-festival.

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

Good question. Well hopefully they'll hear some nice word of mouth, read some of last year's reviews and take a big old punt on us.

'Minor Delays' is at 4:15pm at Gilded Balloon on 5-16, 18-30 August. Listing
