Miles Allen answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions
Miles Allen is back at the festival to perform his show which condenses 60 episode of Breaking Bad into 60 minutes...
1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?
I actually was very introverted growing up, experienced heavy bullying all the way through middle school. It was so bad that parents took me out of that school and put me in a new school, where I had a blank slate. The first day of school I told a joke in class that made all of my peers bust up laughing. I had never experienced that before... I loved every second of it.
Since then I've been hooked on creating joy in people through laughter. Kind of nice way to turn some bad experiences and turn it around for something good! I never thought it would land me with touring a successful international comedy show. I feel more than blessed!
2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.
Ok, here goes nothing... Meth, Impressions, Dancing, Fedoras, Meth, Singing, Magnets, Wigs, Meth, Bells, Explosions, Breakfast, Oh, and did I forget to mention meth?
3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?
Like I said before, making people laugh is intrinsically one of the greatest highs in life, second only to doing meth...
4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?
If you build it (Meth Lab), they will come. But seriously if free 'Heisenberg Blue' isn't enough to get the BreakingBADdicts in, then I don't know what will!
5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?
Billions... with a "B".
6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?
Definitely trying a deep-fried mars bar. Weird... yet oddly satisfying.
7. What other shows are you hoping to see?
All of them. I believe if I pace myself, I'll be able to see all 1,700+ and tour the Highlands before the month is up!
8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?
Louis CK, Noel Fielding, Jim Gaffigan, Russell Brand, Weird Al, Jim Carrey, and Hologram Robin Williams (Hey, they did it with Tupac!).
9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.
Old Greg. He's a scaley fish-man, and I certainly don't want to see his "downstairs mixer", or the big ball of purple funk he has in his cave. The Crack Fox would be cool though...
10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?
Free meth, hour-long comedic re-telling of the greatest TV show in history with me humorously impersonating all the characters, as well as Family Guy, SpongeBob, Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, Downton Abbey, and so much more!
'One Man Breaking Bad: The Unauthorized Parody' is at 6pm at Gilded Balloon on 5, 7-16, 18-24, 26-31 August. Listing
