Marc Gassot answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

Marc Gassot

Marc Gassot is behind Dark Side of the Mime. This is how he answered our 10 questions...

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I graduated from the one and only École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris 2006 and I have done comedy ever since. This year in particular has been a blast for me. I won the award for The Best Theatrical Act and the award for The Actor of the Year in Finland, and now I want more!!!

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

Shameless, audacious, ruthless, erotic and extremely funny. Dark Side of the Mime is the best grotesque comedy show that you will ever see!

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

Because I'm Finnish. And fear makes me fly.

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

My porn mime will do the job.

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

I'm going to make a lot of money! I want to drive back home to Finland on a Bentley.

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

In 2013 I was at the Fringe with the company Out of Balanz. We performed at the Big Belly, and there was bar across the street with a very loud troubadour playing lousy cover songs every fu*king night.

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

Assembly Roxy has a lot of great shows, so I might move in there for the whole month. If I do get out of there I want to see other Lecoq baced companies like Temple, Tangram and Superbolt Theatre.

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

Dr Brown, Stuart Bowden, Troels Hagen Findsen and me.

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

My wife! My kids are too small to be alone in Helsinki.

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

Because I'm worth it.

'Dark Side of the Mime' is at 11:15pm at Assembly Roxy on 5-16, 18-23, 25-30 August. Listing
