Joe Wenborne is fighting back at 50.
1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?
I started in comedy in January 1983 and retired in February 1983. Since then I've been doing a lot of rehearsals and feel it's time for the big come back. I'm delighted with where I am; I feel it's a personal triumph cos quite honestly I never thought I'd live past my 40s.
2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.
A thought provoking, observational, truthful and humorous look at a stage of life that we are either past, in or heading towards.
3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?
I need the money.
4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?
I'm considering changing the name of my show to Main Entrance.
5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?
Lose???? No one said I might lose money! Don't for goodness sake tell my wife.
6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?
I haven't had a fringe for years.
7. What other shows are you hoping to see?
Worbey & Farrell's House Party (Assembly Rooms @ 1710, 7-30 August).
8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?
Billy Connolly, Peter Kay, David Cameron.
9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.
My wife.
10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?
This is the only one with Joe Wenborne in!
