Edinburgh Q and A

Jenny Collier answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

Jenny Collier

Stand-up comedian Jenny Collier talks to us about her new show, Jenny Say Qua.

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

I did my first gig in 2011 but only started really trying in 2012. I quit my day job last year so I feel very happy about that. I also feel hungry though.

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

I talk about my life and relatable shit in a lolworthy way that leaves you going 'Haha, I'm glad I'm not her.'
Disco.

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

I love Edinburgh Fest Fringe. I don't find it stressfuck what am I doing?

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

While I'm flyering I will be naked under my clothes.

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

Hopefully make enough to not get the Megabus ever again. And I need a new phone. This feels like a Christmas list. Mince pie?

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

My sister passed out against a sink in a hostel about 8 years ago. Smashed one of her front teeth clean out. I came in to find her unconscious on the floor. I thought she'd been shot in the head. Wacky. She's fine now.

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

David O'Doherty, Tamar Broadbent, The Herbert (Spencer Jones), Joe Lycett, Felicity Ward and MILLIONS MORE.

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

Rik Mayall, Victoria Wood, Sam Simmons, Daniel Kitson, Sarah Silverman.

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Ummmm... Hitler. Yes I'd rather not bump into him.

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

It's in a safe venue this time. My last years' venue has been condemned for safety reasons. If there was a fire on the stairs, we'd all have perished. This time- no stairs.

'Jenny Say Qua' is at 5pm at The Free Sisters on 6-30 August. Listing
